4 Holiday Treats That Pack a Protein Punch

The holiday season is in full swing and, if you’re like the rest of the world, you’re likely hustling to purchase gifts, wrap presents, and prep those holiday treats everyone expects to enjoy in the days leading up to Christmas.

But all too often, the food we put into our bodies around the holidays is seriously lacking in protein.

Why does this matter? Because protein is the magical ingredient that keeps us feeling full longer, helps us build strong muscles, and prevents blood sugar spikes.

And that’s why we decided to share with you 4 of our favorite holiday treats that taste great and are packed with protein. Let’s dive in!

Protein Pumpkin Pie

Some treats just scream holiday indulgence, and pumpkin pie certainly falls into this category. But most recipes are filled with sugar and low on protein.

This recipe from Protein Chef proves you can have your pie and protein, too! We love that the recipe includes an option to ditch the crust altogether (reducing the calories) and incorporates cottage cheese and protein powder into the creamy pumpkin filling to amp up the protein levels…it’s genius!

Protein Truffles

We all want sweet treats around the holiday season, but it can be hard to find recipes that don’t include sugar and unhealthy fats.

Allow us to introduce you to our go-to protein truffle recipe created by the food gurus at Epicurious. Here, refined sugar is swapped out for agave nectar and your favorite nut butter is used for the filling (cashew butter is amazing in this recipe!) along with a sweetened vanilla protein powder for that all-important protein punch.

The result is a decadently moist truffle that can be covered in all kinds of coatings—unsweetened coconut, finely diced dried fruits, cocoa powder…the sky’s the limit!

Dark Chocolate Peppermint Protein Shake

This recipe had us at dark chocolate…or maybe it was the peppermint…who are we kidding, the whole thing is amazing!

Sometimes you want a treat that is a feast for all the senses, and this shake certainly fits the bill. It looks incredibly decadent, smells like a frosty Christmas morning, and tastes like something Santa’s elves would offer should you visit their workshop.

The geniuses over at Fit Foodie Finds use frozen bananas for sweetness and chocolate protein powder and cocoa powder for richness. And the best part? This smoothie packs in a whopping 22g protein in each serving, ensuring you’ll have plenty of energy for trimming the tree or shopping for gifts.

Gingerbread Protein Pancakes

Getting in enough protein isn’t just important for busy moms and dads…the whole family can benefit from a high-protein meal. If you’re looking for something to serve on Christmas morning that will fill your kitchen with the scents of the season and protein, you’ll love these gingerbread pancakes!

Filled with warm spices and molasses, these pancakes are made with protein and Greek yogurt to up the protein levels without losing any flavor. Trust us when we say, the kids will go crazy for these cakes!

From all of us at Robin B Movement, we wish you and your families a very happy holiday season!
